VOLPHIG consults communities

So far I have not said much about work so I am sure all of you must be thinking we are both just enjoying ourselves!

Recently we visited six communities of people with disabilities around Ho to find out from them what training would benefit them. It was an interesting exercise as most people first came up with income generation which is not surprising when you see the poverty. However, we did manage to get some responses through group work and linked the training to what would help their businesses. So now we have a lot of information and we need to spend the next few days working out what the project looks like and how the logistics of having trainers in these remote villages would be possible as well as support from VOLPHIG. This will I am sure keep us busy for the next few days. After that we have to prepare for another monthly Board meeting (I am trying to change that!) and VOLPHIG's AGM on 18th May. The trip was tiring and as you can see our driver could not keep awake during one of the meetings. In case you are wondering, Michael did join us he took the photos and also informed the communities about their rights for free health care in accordance with the new Disability Law as well as giving advice on making bids to the municipal assemblies.
